There is absolutely no complacency when it comes to Peace and we believe strongly that it is within our power to achieve the promise of sustainable Peace on the Plateau.
Everyday i pray that the heavens will inspire the people of plateau state to live in peace with each other, by accepting our shared humanity and working daily to defend it
if not for anything, i want to at the least, be remembered as a man who worked for Peace
Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.
Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are.
If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.
Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding: it seeks to annihilate rather than convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys community and makes brotherhood impossible. It leaves society in monologue rather than dialogue. Violence ends up defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers.
To replace the old paradigm of war with a new paradigm of waging peace, we must be pioneers who can push the boundaries of human understanding. We must be doctors who can cure the virus of violence. We must be soldiers of peace who can do more than preach to the choir. And we must be artists who will make the world our masterpiece.
The Plateau State Peace Building Agency (PPBA) is an institutional framework established by law to respond to the challenges of peace and security in the state. Our mandate is to promote the culture of peace and harmonious coexistence, among the various ethno-religious divides on the Plateau. we operate through strategic partnerships with state and non state actors, we also coordinate conflict resolution and peace building interventions of stakeholders who work in and around the issues of Peace Building and conflict prevention. we believe in the creative engagement of young people and gender mainstreaming in peace building efforts as a panacea for building lasting peace in our communities, thus we constantly evolve strategies for youth and women empowerment, and also assist vulnerable groups to be useful to themselves and their societies. we are non-partisan, non-religious and non-ethnic, and our work is all geared towards building a safer and more stable plateau that is at peace with itself and the rest of the world.

Post-conflict Rehabilitation
It is phenomenal to look back at the start of the project "Consolidating the mechanism for sustainable cooperation and transformation of the farmer-herder conflict in Plateau State" funded by the US Embassy. The realization that the US Embassy then was willing to invest resources on a young agency as ours into addressing a root course of the conflict in our state was a necessary backbone in our quest for peace.
The PPBA has in the last two years, implemented a number of conflict resolution interventions in communities across the state. However, those interventions, had not followed a specific plan of action, but were based on specific needs assessments. there was therefore a need to develop a strategic plan which will not only serve as a blueprint for the conflict intervention and Peace building activities of the PPBA, but that will also serve to streamline the activities of all other organizations and stakeholders who work
The quest by the government of Plateau state and other relevant stakeholders working to sustain and further consolidate the gains of relative Peace and security that has returned to all parts of the state in the last two years, suffered yet another major setback in Miango district of Bassa LGA. The renewed hostility between Irigwe and Fulani ethnic groups in recent times have left in its wake devastating consequences in terms of both human and material loss. The experience of Plateau State for over a decade has clearly shown that our cultural diversity which has been the source of our strength and rallying point
