The forum which is constituted by a wide range of stakeholders from both from farmer and herder communities held its meeting for the month of July, 2022 at the Council Chambers of the Riyoim LG Secretariat and had in attendance the Atta Aten the paramount ruler of Ganawuri Chiefdom and Chairman of the Riyom traditional council. Also present was the deputy Chairman of the council and representatives of civil society organizations.
A contextual analysis of prevailing concerns that pertain to conflict between farmers and herders were carried out, cases were reported and suggestions were made to proffer lasting solutions to lingering issues.
A cardinal objective of the forum is for communities to be provided the platform and support required to evolve for themselves mechanisms for conflict management with the view to prevent violence.
Riyom is indeed a success story and hope to continue support the peace process in the area.
