As the global Community commemorate the INTERNATIONAL WOMENS' DAY, we must spare a thought and reflect on the enormous contributions of the womenfolk in diverse human endeavours, particularly in the peace building arena.
This auspicious occasion calls for all and sundry to join hands and celebrate our women who have, over the years, risen above the storms of stereotype and other harmful cultural practices that hitherto impeded their growth and development.
Their immense contributions in the socio-economic and political scene remains a reference point to their counterparts from around the world.
To all our women, we celebrate you and salute your courage. Keep pushing the frontiers of our collective advancement as we urge all citizens to continue to "invest in women" in order to "accelerate progress" in our communities in tandem with this year's theme.
