A 2-day Women Conference, organized by PPBA with support from the German International Cooperation, GIZ brought together Community-based women from all walks of life across Plateau State. The event, which took place from 21-22 April, 2022 had the theme: “Enhancing Women Participation in Conflict Prevention and Decision Making Process at the Grassroots level”.
Seasoned women activists in the field of Peace building and conflict prevention, Dr. Angela Olofu and Hajiya Fatima Suleiman facilitated the event as they took the participants through practical and interactive sessions.
Dr. Angela Olofu discussed the stages of Conflict and handling styles at the grassroot, with Effective communication in Conflict.She appealed to the women to aspire to take part in leadership positions, which by so doing could contribute to decision making process that can build a peaceful society.
Hajiya Fatima Suleiman also discussed, the role of women in Conflict Prevention, and the Involvement of women in peacebuilding process. Several life experiences were shared by the participants at the end of the sessions.
As the electioneering process in Nigeria gathers momentum towards the 2023 general elections, the PPBA is taking deliberate steps at enhancing the capacity of women, especially those at the grassroots to get them actively involved in making key decisions that affects their individual communities.
