Symbolic signing of the Expression of Commitment to Peace and Peaceful Coexistence between the Irigwe and Fulani of Miango Chiefdom

Tremendous amount of work culminating into the symbolic signing of the Expression of Commitment to Peace and Peaceful Coexistence between the Irigwe and Fulani of Miango Chiefdom, in Bassa LGA of Plateau State.

This is a big win for the Irigwe nation and the Fulani.

The Peace Document was signed in the presence of witnesses including the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon Simon Bako Lalong on 13th July 2022.

Other witnesses include the Executive Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Prof. Sonni G. Tyoden; the Speaker of the Plateau Sate House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda; the Hon. Chief Judge of the State High Court, Hon. Justice D.G Mann; the Director General of the Plateau State Peacebuilding Agency, Mr. Joseph Lengmang; Co-Chairs of the Plateau State Interreligious Council Rev. Prof . Pandang Yamsat and HRH. Muhammad Haruna Sambo, who was represented by the Emir of Kanam, HRH. Alh. Mu'azu Muhammad II; Commandant Operation Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. Ali & Secretary to the Government of the State, Prof. Danladi Atu.

The representative of the United States Institute of Peace, Dr. Chris Kwaja, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Kaduna State Peace Commission, Dr. Sale Momale, the co-executive directors of the Kaduna based Interfaith Mediation Centre (Pastor James Wuye & Imam Ashafa); Prof. Aboi Madaki, President of the Plateau Initiative for the Development and Advancement of the Natives as well as distinguished members of the Plateau State Interreligious Council were there to witness the signing of the Peace Document.

We pray this development ushers in a new era of Peace through forgiveness and reconciliation in Irigwe land. Enough of the hate, resentment, destruction and bloodshed.

We will in the following days share details of the Peace Document while calling on our friends and partners to support the Bassa Internal Peace and Security Committee in the implementation of their agreement.
